2021-2022 "Soil and Water: Yours for Life" Poster Contest
Please click on the links for additional information about the "Soil and Water: Yours for Life" poster contest for the 2021-2022 school year, which is sponsored by the Wake Soil and Water Conservation District. We discussed the specific criteria in class along with due dates for plans and research. This exciting poster is a optional homework assignment.
A plan with evidence of research and a sketch of a poster design plan will be due on Tuesday, October 5th. For the plan, students need to show evidence of research by answering the questions at the top of the study packet and also show a sketch of how they plan to organize the poster.
The FINAL copy of the poster (on poster-sized paper, NO tri-folds) is due on Thursday, October 28th. Late posters will not be eligible to win.
Three posters from Block 1 and three posters from Block 2 will be selected to advance to the district competition. Judges from across the school will help determine these top three classroom posters. Then, ten posters from across the district will be selected. These top ten winners will be able to attend a banquet in their honor in early December. The top three poster winners from the district (all over Wake County) will receive cash prizes and several top district posters will be featured on the WRAL news. The winning regional poster from the top ten will receive a $100 cash prize! Again, late posters will not be eligible for judging. Good luck, scientists!
HINT: Click on the first available download below, which is the study guide. You will see three questions.at the top of the first page. Those three questions are the ones you need to answer (in detail) on your poster. :-) The second download is the rubric that both school and regional judges will be using the evaluate your poster.
